Al-Nasr is chasing a deal for Liverpool ace Roberto Firmino as they look to lure a marquee signing over to Dubai in 2023.
The Sunday Mirror (11/12, p69) reports that Al-Nasr is hoping to throw a ‘lucrative offer’ to Firmino and tempt him away from Anfield.
Liverpool is understood to be in talks with Firmino over a new contract with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.
From January 1st though, Liverpool will be in danger of losing Firmino.
Once he hits the final six months of his contract, Firmino will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club.
That gives Liverpool just a few weeks to try and sort out a deal or risk leaving that door open.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants to keep Firmino at Anfield but big money and a regular starting role could tempt him away.
FIRMINO LEFT WITH A DILEMMA OVER LIVERPOOL EXIT
Let’s start with something key here – this is not the team trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.
Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia is chasing the free agent whilst this Al-Nasr is based in Dubai.
This will be an incredibly difficult decision for Firmino at this stage in his career.
Signed for £ 29 million from Hoffenheim in 2015, Firmino has been vital to the Jurgen Klopp era thanks to his pressing ability and technical quality.
348 games, 107 goals, 78 assists – Firmino has been a masterstroke of a signing for Liverpool.
Yet more than seven years since his arrival, Firmino needs to think about his future.
Firmino has managed 11 Premier League starts this season when many thought he was a fading force, but he may end up on the bench a lot when Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah are all available.
Firmino will face a dilemma now; stay at Liverpool and continue his legacy whilst probably not being a star player or take huge money in Dubai to see out his career.
That’s a tough call and much will depend on the role Klopp sees for Firmino moving forward with talks over a new deal likely to ramp up.
