Everyone knows about Cody Gakpo‘s speed, with the new Liverpool signing being something of a bullet.

The Dutchman has speed and quite a lot of it. In fact, he has virtually everything.

At six-foot-four, Gakpo, who has signed for Liverpool [Sky Sports], has pace, height, power and 30 goal involvements in 24 appearances for PSV Eindhoven this season.

Yep, the 23-year-old has pretty much everything going for him, but Liverpool have been linked to a player who may be even quicker than the Netherlands international.

On Monday night, Calciomercato in Italy reported that the Reds are also in ‘pole position’ to sign Hirving Lozano from Napoli.

And according to official figures, Lozano’s top speed in the Champions League this season is relatively quicker than that of Gakpo’s in the Europa League.

The latter is no slouch by any means, with a top speed of 31.6 KM/H [UEFA], but the Mexico international has clocked 33.21 KM/H [UEFA] this season.

For context, Lozano also has a higher average top speed per European game than a certain Mohamed Salah, who boasts 31.6 KM/H [UEFA] compared to 31.72 KM/H.

CODY GAKPO’S SPEED

Overall, 27-year-old Lozano is obviously a quicker player, but Gakpo is far and away a better one.

As mentioned, there isn’t much that the powerful Dutchman doesn’t have in his locker and he should, in theory, be a wonderful signing by Liverpool.

As covered by HITC Sport, he is primarily a left-sided winger and with Lozano being a right-sided one [Transfermarkt], well signing Gakpo doesn’t necessarily mean that the latter is now off the table.
