Liverpool may now try to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo this month, according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs.

Speaking with GiveMeSport, the reporter claims that whilst the Reds could try to land the 21-year-old at Anfield this month, reports suggesting that a bid has been made are wide of the mark.

“The other one to watch is Moises Caicedo and this is the one Liverpool think they might go for in January,” Jacobs said.

“But contrary to reports, Liverpool have not yet bid for Moises Caicedo. There’s even reports out there that Liverpool have bid twice for Moises Caicedo.

“Liverpool have not bid for Moises Caicedo.”

According to reports from Ecuador, the Reds have had a £62m bid rejected for the youngster.

Liverpool may bid for Caicedo in January

The Reds are in desperate need of midfield additions this month and Caicedo could be the man to get Klopp’s side back on track.

The 21-year-old has been excelling in the middle of the park for Brighton this term, and both Liverpool and Chelsea have been touted with a keen interest in the youngster.

According to The Mirror, the Seagulls would now accept an initial offer worth £60m to sell the Ecuador international.

Whilst this may appear steep for a player who has amassed just 24 appearances in the Premier League, Caicedo would surely play a huge part in fixing Liverpool’s issues.

The likes of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson continually look tired in the middle, almost as if they cannot compete with the rapid intensity of the English top-flight anymore.

Caicedo would thus slot straight into Klopp’s XI, having demonstrated he is like a young N’Golo Kante in the midfield.

Hailed by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp as ‘magnificent’, it’s easy to see why the German wants to land the Ecuadorian at Anfield.

Therefore, Liverpool should do all they can to sign him this month.
