Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Moises Caicedo’s future amid links to both Chelsea and Liverpool.

The Ecuadorian midfielder is certainly in-demand at the moment, but according to Jacobs, nothing is going to happen with the Brighton star until next Wednesday.

Indeed, the journalist states that January 18th is the date that Caicedo’s representation officially changes, and that could spark what Jacobs described as a ‘mad scramble’ for his signature.

CAICEDO STORY TO DEVELOP

The reporter gave an update on the young star.

“Moises Caicedo is a player on Chelsea’s radar. Liverpool like the player too. A deal has been messy in the past due to multiple agent representation, hidden costs and side fees. Therefore, we need to wait a week because the new agent of Moises Caicedo doesn’t formally represent him until January 18th, then there will be a mad scramble to see if anything is possible in January, otherwise clubs will look to the summer,” Jacobs said.

ON YOUR MARKS

It may still be a few days until the race for Caicedo truly begins to develop, but both Liverpool and Chelsea need to get their respective offers ready right now.

Indeed, like with any transfer race, the team that secures Caicedo’s signature may well be the team that moves most quickly.

Chelsea are all over the place at the moment, particularly in the midfield, so perhaps they will rush into a deal as quickly as possible.

However, Liverpool have proven time and time again that they are the kings of planning in the transfer window, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they had their offer into Brighton at one minute past midnight on the 18th.

One thing is for sure, this is a story that could move quickly next week.
