Fabrizio Romano gave an update on Liverpool business in this transfer window and it’s what fans want to hear. The journalist sounds confident.
Fabrizio Romano held a live stream this week where he discussed transfer talk from around Europe. There wasn’t all that much to say on Liverpool but what the journalist did suggest was positive.
“I expect them to try for a new midfielder in the next few days,” said Romano after a question on what Liverpool might do.
The Reds are in need of change this January after an awful run of form. The 3-0 defeat against Brighton on Saturday saw Jurgen Klopp claim it was the worst he’s seen one of his sides play.
Liverpool transfer news
This is essentially what Liverpool fans have been desperate to hear. Perhaps the only better news would be that a deal is close or that a certain player is the target.
But we’ll take this. Liverpool desperately need a new midfielder, with the current crop looking incapable of delivering what Klopp wants. The pressing is off, the passing is off, and they simply don’t look like controlling any game right now.
Thus an addition could make a world of difference. Of course, any addition must have more of an impact than Arthur, who arrived in similar circumstances last summer. Liverpool needed a midfielder, brought in the Brazilian, and then got 13 minutes out of him before a long-term injury struck.
We’ll hope that any new signing has more of a positive impact than that, then. As for who that could be, there are a few candidates.
Someone like Jude Bellingham is essentially impossible. Ruben Neves looks like a more likely addition, with the Mirror recently claiming there’s interest from Liverpool.
This late in the day, though, any transfer will be difficult to pull off. A desperate Liverpool aren’t exactly negotiating from a position of strength.
