Young Liverpool goalkeeper Harvey Davies was called up to train with the first team this week.
The Reds are looking to bounce back from Saturday’s painful defeat against Wolves in Monday’s Merseyside Derby. To that end, Jurgen Klopp was handed some good news on Thursday. Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Virgil van Dijk and Arthur Melo were all pictured back in training.
So too, was Davies. Although there’s no chance that he’ll be between the sticks against Everton, the 19-year-old was rubbing shoulders with Alisson Becker and co yesterday.
It would take a catastrophe for the youngster to get his chance against Everton. Nevertheless, his presence is needed given the current injury to Marcelo Pitaluga.
Liverpool get injury boost
Thursday felt like the first time good news has been on the agenda for Liverpool for quite some time.
The long anticipated returns of Jota, Firmino and Van Dijk are finally upon us. Although all injured for different periods of time, the Reds have badly missed all three in recent times. Their inclusion in the squad should mean Liverpool are better than they have been of late.
Also brilliant to see Arthur back in action after such a lengthy absence. Hopefully he can kick on and add something to this struggling Liverpool squad.
Bajcetic back for more
Elsewhere, Klopp still has a real job on to sort out his midfield. The middle area of the pitch wasn’t necessarily the problem against Wolves, but they still struggled.
With all of his options there now fit, it’s on the manager to come up with the most effective combination.
Over the last few weeks, that looks certain to include young Stefan Bajcetic. The young Spaniard was getting stuck in during yesterday’s session and is likely to start a third Premier League game in a row.
Come on lads, we need to see much better on Monday. We’re all behind you!
