Mason Mount, a Chelsea midfielder, is said to have rejected a transfer offer from Liverpool, and he now appears to be heading to Manchester United for next season.

The England international hasn’t been at his best this season, but he’s still a top talent on his day, and he appears to be a perfect fit for what Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag needs in his squad right now.

Man United would be wise to bring in a younger replacement for Christian Eriksen, and Mount has the versatility and intelligence to do just that.

Mount could have done a job for Liverpool, but according to Relevo journalist Jorge Picon in the tweet below, he wasn’t interested in moving to Anfield…

Mason Mount’s favourite team is Manchester United. Several weeks ago, the player officially rejected Liverpool.

Liverpool’s exit from the Champions League is unlikely to have helped their cause, with Mount no doubt keen to ensure that if he leaves Chelsea, it is for a genuine step up.

United, for all their flaws, appear to be progressing under Ten Hag, so it stands to reason that a move to Old Trafford would be more appealing to a player like Mount right now
