Liverpool is in talks to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone, as they look to ramp up their summer spending spree.
Jurgen Klopp has already got a deal for Alexis Mac Allister over the line but the Liverpool boss wants even more.
And according to the Sunday People (Print, 11/6, p63), Kone is the one Klopp wants to be done next.
Liverpool in talks to sign Manu Kone
The Sunday People claims that Liverpool has identified Kone as the next signing and that talks are underway over what could be a £30m deal to bring him to Anfield.
Kone has emerged as one of the most talked-about names when it comes to new signings for Liverpool.
Along with fellow Frenchman, Khephren Thuram, Kone is seen as a player who ticks several boxes for Jurgen Klopp’s vision this summer.
Lauded in the media as being a ‘very strong’ midfield player, Liverpool sees the potential in the 22-year-old.
At £30m, he is among the cheaper options as well and after saving money on the Mac Allister deal, it seems the Reds are looking for their next bargain.
RTK’s View: Someone Klopp likes a lot
The fact that Kone keeps on getting mentioned is interesting. It means that this is a player that Klopp likes the look of.
The midfield area is so key for us this summer and Kone does seem to be a bundle of energy and strength in the middle.
We’ve already added the quality element in the form of Mac Allister. Adding players who can get about the pitch, then, might be key with our next signings.
Kone has a long way to go before being a world-class player. But right now, he looks an excellent prospect and if a deal can be done at £30m, then it’s a no-brainer.
