Will Be Announced Today’: Liverpool Looking To Make £45 Million Move for Romeo Lavia
Liverpool Target Romeo Lavia to Further Strengthen Their Midfield
According to the update from Simon Jones, Liverpool remain interested in Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, despite the impending arrival of Dominik Szoboszlai from Red Bull Leipzig for £60 million.
A further update from Fabrizio Romano, states that Szoboszlai who has been described as “special” will be announced and unveiled as Liverpool’s latest signing today, signing a contract until June 2028. The arrival of the Hungarian international follows from the Reds signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.
These arrivals will already improve a Liverpool midfield that was often overrun last season. It now appears according to Jones, that Jurgen Klopp could further strengthen his midfield by signing Lavia.
Jacob Tanswell who writes about Southampton for The Athletic, has recently told Empire of the Kop that Liverpool is the most likely destination for the 19-year-old Belgian midfielder. Tanswell went on to explain what kind of fee Jurgen Klopp’s men will have to pay. “Southampton wants a high figure for him. Someone has got to pay around £45m-£50m for Lavia.”
Qualities Lavia Would Bring to Liverpool
Lavia would further improve a Liverpool midfield already taking shape for next season. The Belgian midfielder operates at his best when in the defensive midfield position. He is comfortable with receiving the ball and is brilliant at carrying the ball forward.
Lavia is difficult to dispossess when in possession. He has a great engine and is adept at getting up and down the pitch, making him a vital player. His progressive passing is one of his best attributes, and alongside his work rate, would make him a vital addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
