Torino has turned down an offer from Liverpool for Perr Schuurs, indicating that Jürgen Klopp holds a strong admiration for the defender. Interestingly, Schuurs had previously declined an opportunity to join the Reds before opting to join the Serie A side in 2022.
Reportedly, Klopp has urged Liverpool to secure Schuurs’ signature at any cost during this summer transfer window. As a result, the Merseyside club tabled an offer of approximately €30 million, which was ultimately rebuffed by Torino. According to Tuttosport, Torino has rejected two offers thus far: a €25 million bid from Napoli, accompanied by €3 million in bonuses, and a considerably more compelling proposal from Liverpool.
Following Torino’s rejection, the report suggests that Liverpool will return with a fresh proposal in their pursuit of the 23-year-old defender. Torino president Urbano Cairo reportedly desires an offer in the region of €40 million, and it is not entirely out of the question that Liverpool might match this valuation.
Despite receiving offers from both the Italian champions and the English club, Schuurs seems unhurried in making a decision about his future. Staying with Torino could potentially aid his development as a player, while simultaneously making it difficult for the Dutchman to resist the alluring charm of the Premier League.
