Liverpool have reportedly ‘come forward’ with a proposal worth €200m (£171m) for Kylian Mbappe.
There is a growing expectation Mbappe will leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, with tensions between the forward and the French club seemingly at an all-time high.
Real Madrid has long been the frontrunner for the 2018 World Cup winner, though Liverpool is attempting to ‘make things complicated’ for Real Madrid. That is according to the latest report from Spain, which adds the Reds are ‘ready to try to convince’ Mbappe to sign and that there is an expectation Liverpool’s rumored offer will be ‘instantly accepted’ by the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
The 24-year-old has also been the subject of interest from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, who are understood to have lodged a record-breaking £259m bid for the services of the attacker. French outlet L’Equipe has since stated Mbappe’s representatives have refused to meet with the Saudi side, leaving his future up in the air once again.
Left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Japan, the France international is said to be training with PSG’s reserves as his transfer saga continues to play out in public. Mbappe is refusing to sign a new contract with his current employers, ensuring he will depart for free next summer unless he can be sold this summer.
Weighing in on how this situation has been handled, Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo has hit out at PSG for their unprofessional approach. Discussing the matter during an interview with French radio station RMC, Hidalgo said: “I don’t understand what PSG are playing at. Kylian Mbappé is the best player in the world. I’ll admit that I don’t understand it at all.
“Kylian is an extraordinary player and we have to keep him in Paris,” she added. “I think it’s also his wish to remain here as long as possible. The question is: what is PSG doing?”
