Man Utd youngster Dan Gore set to make step up under Erik ten Hag with new role against Wolves

Manchester United’s youngster Dan Gore could be in the squad against Wolves for the club’s Premier League opener.

United will fancy getting the new campaign off to a flyer at Old Trafford on Monday when they take on Wolves, a team that have endured a tumultuous pre-season and already seen manager Julen Lopetegui leave.

The Old Trafford club, who finished third last year, have spent some £180million on recruits, with Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount and Andre Onana having all arrived over the summer.

While Erik ten Hag’s side looks stronger on paper, their pre-season results have been mixed.

United secured victories over Leeds, Lyon, Arsenal and Lens, but also suffered three straight defeats to Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, conceding over two goals in each loss.

And with injuries to contend with, United go into the Wolves encounter light in midfield. Indeed, according to the Manchester Evening News, there is an outside chance Gore could be on the bench for the Wolves encounter.
