Richard Keys is pretty confident that Mohamed Salah will secure a transfer from Liverpool to Saudi Arabia.
The beIN SPORTS presenter says he is ‘closer to the source’ in the ever-growing league in Saudi Arabia and he thinks that Mohamed Salah will ‘definitely leave Liverpool‘, as he wrote on his own website.
The 31-year-old started Liverpool’s dramatic and possibly season-changing 2-1 win at Newcastle United on Sunday, as he provided the assist for Darwin Nunez’s stoppage-time winner.
Those at Anfield will be hoping that it isn’t the last time Salah, who is regarded as one of their greatest-ever players, dons their famous colours – Saudi side, Al-Ittihad are pushing hard for his signature.
That undercooked and scrappy winger who first joined Chelsea many, many years ago has now blossomed into a superstar of the highest proportions, a hero not just on Merseyside, but in the Middle East also.
Those in the Arab world relate to Salah, so it’s understandable why they will be knocking on his door, with Keys even suggesting that they are ‘arranging a medical’, that’s how confident they are about signing him.
“Now. Mo Salah. He’s definitely leaving Liverpool,” said Keys. “I think we all agree on that. What we don’t know is when, but don’t be surprised if it’s this week. Or – perhaps everybody waits until the international break, but right now the deal to take him to the Saudi league is very much on.
“You’ve got to understand that what we hear in our part of the world is very different to what’s being said in the U.K. We’re a whole lot closer to the source. We were discussing what’s happening on beINSPORTS Sunday when phones started going off. Messages were being received from people bang in the middle of the deal telling us that they’d got so far as arranging a medical this week.
“To be honest – I didn’t see that as significant. The Saudis would take Salah if he was on crutches recovering from an ACL, but it did tell me that there’s oxygen in the story, despite Klopp’s denials. And I’m not saying Klopp is lying – perhaps he doesn’t actually know again? It’s not too long since he announced Liverpool had signed Caicedo is it – and we all know what happened next.
“Only two things are certain right now – Salah will be part of the Saudi’s planning – and they are not going away.”
World Class Salah
Liverpool have had many issues during these last 12 months, but the one constant and guarantee has been Salah’s ability to put the ball into the back of the net.
Manchester United legend Gary Neville, via his podcast, once dubbed the Egypt star as ‘world-class’ and amid Liverpool’s want to climb the ladder again, they don’t have many players left that fall into that bracket.
Or even if they do, they haven’t been performing at that level, whilst Salah has, so it’s paramount that Liverpool do everything in their power to keep him.
It seems as though the Saudi Arabia side, Al-Ittihad, will do everything possible to sign him, even put a serious transfer fee on the table, so this is going to test FSG like never before.
