Ian Wright fuming over transfer news coming out of Liverpool

Ian Wright has slammed Al-Ittihad’s approach for Mohamed Salah, with the former Arsenal striker fuming with how late the Saudi Arabia side moved for the Liverpool winger.
Speaking on the Kelly and Wright Show, the pundit was not pleased with how Al-Ittihad had gone about their pursuit for Salah, with the Reds receiving a £150m offer on deadline day for the winger.
With Al-Ittihad believed to be preparing a second bid for Salah, Liverpool find themselves in a difficult situation where they could be forced to reject a world-record offer due to the English market being shut.
There’s a growing expectation that Salah will one day move to Saudi Arabia, yet in the words of Wright, the way Al-Ittihad have gone about their interest in the winger has been poor this summer.
Wright said: “To come in for a player of that calibre, of that level, you’re not going to let him go at that stage of the window but it’s almost disrespectful to him.
“If you’re going to do that, then do it in time because you’re trying to buy him. Now he’s just unsettled.”
Wright hits the nail on the head on Liverpool’s Salah situation
To say Al-Ittihad are playing Liverpool for fools would be an understatement, with the Saudi Arabia side making a mockery out of Salah’s importance to the Reds with their deadline day offer.
And Wright hits the nail on the head with his assessment of the entire situation, with Liverpool aware that selling Salah won’t be as easy as throwing as much as possible for the winger.
Indeed, Liverpool will let Salah go when they see fit and at the right time, and even with the amounts Al-Ittihad are fronting, the Reds know better than to sell the winger without a replacement lined up.

Arsenal fans know exactly what’s going to happen after Crystal Palace win and are already calling out Mikel Arteta

Arsenal fans think they know what Mikel Arteta will do ahead of their Premier League fixture this weekend.
Arsenal fans think they know exactly what’s going to happen after their win over Crystal Palace with some fans already calling out Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal booked their spot in the Carabao Cup semi-finals following their come-from-behind victory over Palace on Wednesday.
Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring at the Emirates as the Gunners replied with three unanswered goals in the second-half.
Gabriel Jesus bagged a stunning hat-trick to inspire his side to victory, with Arsenal old boy Eddie Nketiah grabbing a late consolation.
Despite the cup win, Arsenal fans turned on one of their players.
With Jesus returning to the score-sheet and seemingly finding his groove, Arsenal fans are convinced Arteta will employ the Brazilian up front for this weekend’s Premier League fixture against Palace.
In doing so, supporters reckon Kai Havertz, who has been playing as a forward this season, will drop to the left side of midfield.
But the prospect of Jesus in a No.9 position garnered mixed reaction on social media.
One X user wrote: “Kai Havertz at the tip of the diamond is looking like a decent idea again.”
A second tweeted: “He should put Jesus LW. That’s the problem area.”
A third added: “Probably this weekend.. I am tired already.”
A fourth argued: “With how Merino has played, I don’t think it’s that bad of an idea now.”
Another said: “Did it against Villa (H) last szn and we lost the league.”
Speaking after the game, Arteta praised Jesus and hailed his sharpness in front of goal.
“I’m so pleased for him [Jesus]. It’s been a long period for him without goals and today, to score three goals, the three types of goals that he scored – and the many actions he was involved in – he looked very sharp,” he told Sky Sports.
“I think it’s a great thing for him and the team that we can rely on a player of such quality. It’s the same with Kieran [Tierney] and other players who haven’t started many games and today they had the chance to do so.
“He has a quality, a way of creating and innovating situations that is quite unique. So Gabi at that level is a big asset for us.
“It’s now about consistency. Now this is a moment of spark that will bring so much confidence, not only to him, but to the team as well that we can rely on him to change games.
“Now we need to take it and give him more games and chances. We need to give him more chances because when a player is in that moment it’s important to continue that.”

Chelsea fans want one player benched despite victory over Leicester City

Chelsea were in Premier League action against Leicester City.
Chelsea fans were not happy with one of their players on the back of his performance against Leicester City.
After the latest international break came to an end, domestic football returned to centre stage.
On Saturday afternoon, Chelsea travelled to the King Power Stadium to take on newly-promoted Leicester.
Nicolas Jackson gave the Blues a first-half lead after netting in the 15th minute.
In the second half, the visitors doubled their advantage with Enzo Fernandez heading home to make it 2-0.
Despite a positive result, Chelsea fans were less than happy with winger Noni Madueke’s performance.
The 22-year-old failed to get into the match as he had a goal ruled out for offside and was in the wrong place at the wrong time as he deflected Cole Palmer’s goal-bound shot away for a Leicester goal kick.
Reacting on social media, one fan said: “What is Madueke still doing on the pitch for heaven sake?”
Another tweeted: “Madueke needs to chill calm it down.”
A third fan added: “Madueke needs double the bench time Enzo got.”
Someone else wrote: “Can’t see Madueke keeping his spot over Neto after this game today unfortunately.”
A fifth commented: “I have never seen Madueke making a right decision in final third. Most indecisive attacker in our squad.”
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, former Manchester City and England captain Steph Houghton said: “Leicester have played well in this second half, but that’s what Chelsea do. They drive forward and you have got to be switched on in them scenarios.”
Eventually, Madueke was taken off in the 85th minute, with Jadon Sancho coming on in his place.
In stoppage time, Leicester were given a penalty after Bobby Decordova-Reid was fouled by Romeo Lavia. Jordan Ayew stepped up and scored to make it 2-1.
As a result of the victory over Leicester, Chelsea stay third in the Premier League table and are three points ahead of the likes of Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Brighton and Hove Albion ahead of the remaining fixtures of the weekend.

Liverpool player ratings vs Burnley as Harvey Elliott outstanding and two others very good

Ian Doyle provides his Liverpool player ratings after the 3-1 Premier League win over Burnley at Anfield.
Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League table with a hard-earned 3-1 home victory over relegation-threatened Burnley.
Diogo Jota’s header was equalised on the stroke of half-time by Dara O’Shea before second-half strikes by Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez sent the Reds two points clear of Manchester City at the summit.
And here’s how we rated the Liverpool players on an afternoon in which there was a record crowd at Anfield for a league game of 59,896.
Caoimhin Kelleher 8
Brave to save at the feet of Amdouni early on and even better stop from Fofana after break. Confident with distribution – one momentary slip aside – and no chance with equaliser.
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Looked to get Liverpool going during slow opening and delivered fine corner for the opener. Half-time substitution a worry, though.
Jarell Quansah 7
Tidy enough first half but coaxed into one needless tackle. Better as Burnley pressed second half, particularly in the air, and one shot on turn just wide.
Virgil van Dijk 6
Somewhat unconvincing during early stages but settled after that. Had header saved by Trafford in closing quarter.
Andy Robertson 7
One shot blocked at close range first half and understandably looked a little rusty at times. Corner deliveries caused problems and improved as game progressed. Subbed.
Wataru Endo 7
Tidied up regularly in front of back four and willing to put foot in, and stepped up at start of second half when Liverpool needed injection of tempo. Lost man for equaliser, though. Booked and subbed.
Alexis Mac Allister 6
Playing on the right of midfield three, wasn’t involved as much as of late before break. Shifted to left at half-time and steady rather than spectacular. Subbed.
Curtis Jones 7
Saw a lot of the ball on the left edge of the engine room but not much incision first half. More than decent when moving to right-back second half.
Diogo Jota 7
Opened the scoring with well-taken header and among those thwarted by Trafford second half. Involved in third goal and always busy.
Darwin Nunez 7
Created chance for Diaz during intermittent first half display, but showed up after break and put in real shift playing on shoulder of last defender which was rewarded with good header for third. Missed chance for another late on.
Luis Diaz 8
Like many team-mates, started slowly but began to push his marker back with constant probing down the left. Forced good save from Trafford and stooped well to head in second. Subbed.
SUBS.
Harvey Elliott (for Alexander-Arnold 46) 9
Made instant impact with his energy and care in possession, and put in inviting crosses for the second and third goals. Helped changed the game.
Cody Gakpo (for Diaz 82)
Lively cameo from the Dutchman.
James McConnell (for Endo 90+7)
Another outing for the teenager.
Bobby Clark (for Mac Allister 90+7)
More Premier League minutes for the youngster.
Kostas Tsimikas (for Robertson 90+7)
Welcome return for the Greek.
