Liverpool fans have spotted an incident between Jordan Pickford and an official during Everton’s Premier League clash against Arsenal.

On Sunday afternoon, Everton were looking for their first victory of the 23/24 season as they hosted Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Arsenal dominated the majority of the first half as Everton stood firm to absorb the pressure.

Gabriel Martinelli had a go controversially ruled out by VAR after Eddie Nketiah was adjudged to be offside during the build-up.

During the first half, Liverpool fans have spotted an incident between Pickford and an official.

A video appears to show Pickford directing foul language towards a linesman.

According to fans on social media, Pickford said: “You f**king p***k, f**k off!”

This incident has led to Liverpool fans demanding the Football Association take action against Pickford after Reds captain Virgil van Dijk was handed an extra match’s ban for ‘abuse’ towards the official.

One fan said: “Another £100,000 fine and a 1 match ban incoming for Jordan Pickford. Isn’t that right @FA

@FA_PGMOL?”

After audio from Van Dijk’s incident was released, it was spotted that the Liverpool defender said ‘f**king joke’ towards the referee.

A statement from the FA read: “Virgil van Dijk has been charged with a breach of FA rule E3.1 following Liverpool’s Premier League game against Newcastle United on Sunday, 27 August.”

A statement from the FA read: “Virgil van Dijk has been charged with a breach of FA rule E3.1 following Liverpool’s Premier League game against Newcastle United on Sunday, 27 August.”

At the time, former Premier League referee, Mike Dean, said: “Van Dijk disagreed as he unleashed a verbal volley on fourth official Craig Pawson, which was out of line.

“Depending on what is written in the referee’s report, Van Dijk may find himself in further trouble with the football authorities.”

Fans blast Jordan Pickford over ‘arrogant’ interview after Leicester vs. Everton

Liverpool

Jordan Pickford has been called ‘arrogant’ by fans for his interview after Everton’s draw against Leicester City.

On Monday night, Everton were up against fellow strugglers Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

In what was billed as a relegation six-pointer, Everton got off to the perfect start after Dominic Calvert Lewin netted a penalty after 15 minutes.

However, Dean Smith’s Foxes found themselves 2-1 up in the 33rd minute thanks to goals from Caglar Soyuncu and Jamie Vardy.

Pickford then denied James Maddison from 12 yards in the 45th minute before Alex Iwobi rescued a point for the visitors in the second half.

After the match, Pickford was branded arrogant for his post-match interview.

The Everton goalkeeper said: “Madders needs to learn his lesson – don’t play poker, by the sounds of it. No, I do my homework, I called it this morning, the way I was going to go, but he’s a good player and I think he’ll expect me to make movement.

“He’s got a great delivery, if he whips it or opens up I think he’ll expect me to dive to I double bluffed him and got one up on him. It was a big moment in the game and I’m quite happy I saved it because that’s what I’m there to do – try and help the team. Sometimes they make mistakes, sometimes it’s harsh – the penalty – but I’ll try my best to get them out of trouble.”

Fans were quick to react on social media.

One said: “His arrogance acting like his team is in top 4 is an insult to Everton fans, he doesn’t seem to grasp the reality of the situation his club is in or if he does then he just doesnt care.”

Another tweeted: “Never has such an average keeper loved himself so much. He’s in relegation battles year after year with no top sides in for him.”

A third fan added: “Pickford is incredibly arrogant considering he’s never actually won anything.”

Prior to his interview, Pickford already annoyed fans after he celebrated his penalty save in front of the crowd.

After the draw, Leicester moved up to 16th place in the league table whilst Everton remain in 19th.
