Michael Owen names Liverpool player who has to impress vs LASK



Michael Owen has said that Harvey Elliott will have to impress tonight for Liverpool against LASK if he is to nail down his place in the starting XI.

Speaking on TNT Sports, the former Anfield hero detailed how the England youth international should be looking to make the most of tonight’s opportunity, with Elliott named in Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup.

Elliott is regarded as one of Liverpool’s most exciting prospects, and against LASK, the former Fulham wonderkid will want to impress his manager and coaching staff.


The 20-year-old midfielder is yet to really get going with the Reds this season, and for Owen, the pundit wants to see Elliott impress and to make a claim for a starting place in the Liverpool XI.

Owen said when asked how Elliott can make the next step in his Liverpool career: “This is a big year for him.

“This Liverpool midfield is new and is there for players to take it by the scruff of the neck and say ‘this is me for the future’. There’s so many new players that have come into that area, so he has a chance of doing it.”

The UEFA Europa League will provide Klopp a chance to experiment and test out players in his new system, and Elliott will want to impress for Liverpool against LASK.
