What a night to remember for Isaac, our seven-year-old Liverpool superfan! From the moment he stepped into Anfield Abode, his excitement was off the charts. A full LFC-themed house—what more could a young Red ask for?

Every corner of the house was filled with Liverpool FC magic—from the legendary red decor to memorabilia that made it feel like a piece of Anfield itself. Isaac couldn’t believe his eyes! Sleeping in a room covered in LFC colors and history was like living his dream.

Isaac’s Family Reacts to Concerns About Their Son, the Biggest Liverpool Fan

“I was worried about putting out the wrong message to other families that it’s all very positive when the reality is that we are dealing with another side behind closed doors,” Melissa said.”

The New York Times hosted Isaac’s family to find out how the family is faring, especially as it matters to their son, who is currently the fans favorite for the Liverpool family and the world at large.

According to Isaac’s dad, Alan:

“I’ve never felt more positive about things with him doing so well. We’re just so proud of him. He’s taken everything in his stride.

“Isaac spent his first ten (10) nights in intensive care at Liverpool Women’s Hospital. He was having seizures, and we were scared he wasn’t going to survive.

But God has been faithful since then; he hasn’t had seizures since then. He does not also complain about anything. He always gets on and continues his life.

Alan revealed that their son had to have open-heart surgery at Alder Hey during his fourth birthday. It was diagnosed that there were a couple of holes in his heart that weren’t small to overlook, and that called for the need to operate on him. It was a very scary decision for the family; the operation was done, and he bounced back so quickly. They still go to Alder Hey regularly for checkups.

According to Isaac’s family, “He watches that video of him meeting the players every day, sometimes all day. He will say, ‘Mum, look, here’s me on YouTube!’.

About what he does aside from watching himself online, they added: “If he’s not watching a Liverpool game, he’s playing as Liverpool on his computer or watching Liverpool YouTube videos.”

Alan Said:

“He loves what I love. Liverpool is his life and brings him so much joy.”

The family also announced that they are expecting a new baby soon. So Isaac will have a new sibling later this year. Whatever the future holds, they pray God will lead them right, and they will have to embrace it together as one family.

The Isaacs family further expressed concerns on the status of their son and how it matters to the family of four with one on the way.

“I get messages saying, ‘Do you know what Isaac’s life span is going to be?’. No, I don’t want to know. Don’t come at me with that negative energy. None of us know how long our lifespan is going to be.

All we have to do is keep a positive energy; Isaac will surely survive and tell his story as a full-grown adult. God is in control.

“I’ve never felt more positive about things with him doing so well. We’re just so proud of him. He’s taken everything in his stride.

‘People ask us, ‘Aren’t you worried it’s too much for him?’. But honestly, he’s just living his best life.”

Isaac has low muscle tone, so even to this day, he struggles to walk upstairs, and he can’t walk very far. Most times, he relies on his mom and his dad for most things. Melissa says she knows people don’t really see that side of Isaac, because he’s just so positive. Whenever he is at home in need of physical care or anything like that, he always relies on his parents for them.

Isaac finds it hard to pull his own socks off from his feet because he’s just that weak. He is struggling, and he will win one day.

He has delayed growth when compared to other children of his age, in her words.

“He’s deaf in both ears, so he wears hearing aids in both. He is delayed compared to other children, so he’s not really learning much in school.

Isaac was born with a rare genetic condition from childhood. Before Isaac was born, during the antenatal stage of Melissa’s pregnancy. It was discovered by the doctors that Isaac had a medical syndrome known as Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome. Typically, people with this health disorder have difficulty in seeing; most of them cannot hear or talk, not to mention walking in the future after birth.

The little lad has undergone a series of operations to get better; he has had open-heart surgery. And in all of this, Isaac, the Liverpool fan, doesn’t let it get him down; he is good at bouncing back and playing what he loves best.

Before the visit, Isaac had been making use of plush toys of Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk in school and everywhere around him. Salah and Van Dijk were the players who came to pay him a surprise visit at a class.

In all of these, Isaac is still the happy and positive hero. He is so funny and is full of life. You must have noticed that he is kind of cheeky; that’s not a filter; he’s just the cheekiest little boy you’ll ever meet.

Six-year-old Isaac Kearney melted the hearts of millions when he met his Reds’ idols and became an LFC mascot with the video of the ‘miracle’ meeting chalking up 122 million views and 12 million social engagements across the world.

But it wasn’t just the Kirkby schoolboy with Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome who saw his dreams come true.

Mum Melissa says:

“Mine did too. We started a TikTok account for Isaac about two years ago to give hope and support to other parents of children with Isaac’s condition and raise awareness of the syndrome; and since the video went global we’ve been inundated with messages from people as far away as America.

“We’re so proud of what Isaac’s achieved.  We were told he might never walk and seeing him walk onto the pitch at Anfield with Virgil was unbelievable really, a miracle, and if it helps other families to see our story and feel positive and relieved about their own situations, that’s incredible.”

“We were told there’d be a lot of publicity and it would be big, but we had no idea how big it was going to be. We’ve had people in Brazil, the Netherlands, the US, all over the world, reaching out and saying how Isaac has put things into perspective, that they’re going through a bad time but watching Isaac is keeping them going.

“And that’s amazing.

“There’s been a five-year-high in the number of Google searches relating to Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome so it’s also achieving what we set out to do – and more.”

Isaac went viral when a video went out before Christmas of Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk surprising the Liverpool superfan at his school, Northwood Community Primary, and inviting him to the AXA Training Centre where he met the rest of the squad.

On December 1, he was also a mascot at Liverpool’s game against City when they beat the Manchester team 2-0.

Melissa, 33, a phlebotomist at a local GP surgery, says:

“The players were so good with him, down to earth and so genuine.

“Isaac loves Liverpool.

“It started when he used to watch the games and the build up with his dad, and then he started ask when the next match was on.

“Isaac was into playing his guitar so we’d put the Liverpool songs on and he’d learn the words and sing and play along; he’d ask to go on the Anfield tour, or go the shop to buy a new scarf. That was a day out for him.

“He became passionate about LFC and he knew all the players.  Ask him at the end of the day what he’s had for dinner at school and he can’t remember.  Ask him who’s number 30 for Liverpool and he’ll tell you straight away.

“The teachers even use the players’ numbers to help him engage in maths at school!”

Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome is an extremely rare chromosomal disorder thought to affect around one in 50,000 babies and impacts cognitive and physical development to varying degrees. In Isaac’s case his learning is delayed, and he has low muscle tone which requires constant physiotherapy.

“I had four weeks of my pregnancy to go when Issac was diagnosed and I knew nothing about it,” says Melissa, who also has a daughter, four-year-old Florence with 33-year-old Alan. “I had a quick Google but then thought I can’t do this now.

“When Isaac was born, I started looking into it and for support groups to find out more, but the one I found on Facebook was so centred around doom and gloom that I removed myself from the group.

“I stopped looking and thought I’d see how he developed, and as he started reaching milestones I began to feel more confident and more positive.

“Although I still find it hard to look at photos and videos of Isaac when he was a baby and he had seizures, as he achieved those milestones I realised it didn’t have to be doom and gloom, and I wanted to let other people like us know that.

“It was a young cousin who suggested we start a TikTok account for him to do that, and to show his personality and how he has brought us – brings us – so much joy.

“Every child and adult with Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome is different. Some are in wheelchairs, some are non-verbal, others are more physically able, and I worry about giving the wrong message.

“But I think with any situation, having a positive attitude will always have a better outcome. Isaac is such a character, he’s always smiling, and he’s a lovely, happy little boy.”

As Isaac’s LFC video continues to get more views and fans by the day, Melissa and Alan are thrilled at what it’s meant for them and Isaac.

“It’s not every day you get to see your son’s dream come true, and it still doesn’t seem real.

“But having Isaac’s dream come true has made my dream, our dream, come true, helping other families like ours.

“We’ve been invited to America to talk about him and his condition with charities there and we’ve already supported other parents who’ve reached out to us, so who knows what the future holds.  I just hope everything works out as well for other families as it has for ours.”

Isaac visited Disney Paris for his first birthday . For his 2nd birthday, he visited CBeebies land and for his 3rd Birthday was at home because of lockdown. Sadly,  Isaac was in the hospital for his 4th birthday.

Now 13 points ahead with their next league outing coming next weekend, Liverpool can turn their focus to the Champions League with a trip to Paris on the cards to face PSG at the Parc des Princes.

It cannot be overstated how crucial breaking for the Champions League with such a big lead over Arsenal is. Liverpool can place their full focus on their European ambitions knowing their title charge is as strong as it could with 10 games to play.

Liverpool are doing so well that Jamie Carragher has now suggested Arne Slot will lift back to back titles.

Arne Slot tipped for league double after near-perfect start to life in England

Speaking on the “It’s Called Soccer!” podcast, Jamie Carragher said: “What I’m really excited for is that I think next season will be the first time I will ever predict Liverpool to win the league at the start of the season.

“The reason I say that is Arne Slot will know that squad and team and players so much more than he did 12 months ago and he also knows the deficiencies within the squad.

“He hasn’t brought a proper player yet. So, I’m almost excited thinking this guy’s going to look at the team thinking ‘this is the team that won the league, only lost one game all season and I think I can improve them.’

“I still think Man City will come back next season, but there’s questions about Arsenal, questions about everybody, but I think Liverpool are in a really strong position to try and kick on over the next few years under Slot.”

While it may be a bit soon to think about Liverpool winning the league again next season knowing that Arsenal and Manchester City will both strengthen again while Chelsea will also likely spend heavily to catch back up.

For me, it depends solely on whether or not Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold sign new deals. If Slot keeps all three, the Reds need only minor adjustments to the squad to stay in a healthy and competitive place.

If they leave, Liverpool will face as big a challenge as when Klopp left to stay close to the elite level.

Harvey Elliott has been told to leave Liverpool by Tim Sherwood after the youngster was left out of the team for the Reds’ Premier League clash against Newcastle.

Harvey Elliott has been urged to consider leaving Liverpool after an apparent “angry” reaction following the Reds’ triumph over Newcastle.

The England U21s star was left on the bench during the victory, which saw Arne Slot’s players extend their Premier League lead by 13 points. Despite being a regular feature in Jurgen Klopp’s squad last season, Elliott’s current campaign has seen him struggle to make a significant impact.

The midfielder has only managed 17 appearances so far, with just 10 in the Premier League and a mere four in the starting lineup. A foot injury sidelined him for three months early in the season, and since his return in December, he hasn’t secured a spot in Slot’s first XI.

His last start against Plymouth Argyle resulted in him conceding a penalty, leading to Liverpool’s unexpected FA Cup exit, and since that defeat, he’s only made one brief appearance as a substitute, against Manchester City.

His path to his preferred central midfield position is blocked by Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones and Dominic Szoboszlai, with two of them being Slot’s first choices alongside the revitalised Ryan Gravenberch. After being benched for the 12th time this season during the Newcastle match, Tim Sherwood suggested that Elliott was visibly upset.

While Sherwood admires Elliott’s attitude, he has advised the young player to depart Anfield. On Sky Sports’ Gillette Soccer Special, the commentator expressed his views on Harvey Elliott’s situation at Liverpool.

“The trouble is for players like Harvey Elliott, I watched him and I was really impressed with what I saw,” he said. “The other boys are coming onto the pitch, he’s made five subs there, and still no Harvey Elliott and you know, he’s not happy. He sat there and his face was so angry and annoyed.

“I quite admire that. You know, that boy is not going to sit there and just not play. He will want to leave that football club, I know it’s a brilliant club if he can fight his way into the team, but if he’s not going to play on a regular basis.

“They’ve got players like that and you need players like that, who want to play and want to affect it. At the moment, a top-quality player like him is sitting there and he’s getting no game time.

“If you don’t play and listen, he would be happy picking up a trophy and a medal but in the end, he will want to contribute a lot more than what he’s done.”

Anthony Gordon featured for Newcastle United during their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

Anthony Gordon has sent a message to Curtis Jones after Liverpool beat Newcastle United. The Reds ran out 2-0 winners over their Carabao Cup finalists during their Premier League showdown in midweek to move 13 points clear at the summit.

Jones got the better of his England international and former Everton attacker after goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister ensured Arne Slot’s side capitalised on another slip-up from title rivals Arsenal.

The reports came during England’s Euro 2024 bid, and speculation intensified when Gordon talked up Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard and lavished praise on Anfield. He said: “Other than St. James’ Park, it’s Anfield by far. I think because I’m from the city, it’s probably like I grew up watching it. But I just think before the game, when they sing You’ll Never Walk Alone, it’s top, top level.”

Reds fans, and in fact supporters of rival clubs, have found Isaac too – found his very special renditions of LFC songs on social media.

His combination of passionate chanting and toy guitar in support of his beloved team has captured the hearts of thousands online.

And he captured even more hearts during his own tour of the AXA Training Centre recently.

It all started when the six-year-old – who was born with the rare genetic disorder Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, which means he develops at a slower rate than other children his age – was surprised on a normal Friday morning at school by Salah and Van Dijk.

The Liverpool duo arrived unannounced and whisked Isaac and his family – dad Alan, mum Melissa and sister Florence – off to Kirkby.

There, he met the squad, each of whom the young Kopite greeted with a shout of their surname and a warm high-five, before watching them put through their paces by Arne Slot.

Salah and Van Dijk had another surprise for him, too: Isaac was to be an official mascot alongside the latter for the Reds’ massive Premier League clash with Manchester City at Anfield, ahead of the United Nations’ International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

He proved to be a lucky charm as Slot’s men delivered a 2-0 win that afternoon.

Worth singing about, for sure.
