Liverpool young star set to miss couple of weeks with an ankle issue after returning from injury

After making his first appearance in 19 months, Kaide Gordon is facing another setback with a new injury, but there is some positive news in the mix.

Gordon made his much-anticipated return to action for Liverpool earlier this month when he came off the bench in a U21s match against Middlesbrough, despite the team suffering a 4-1 defeat.

The injury he’s now facing is not considered serious, according to sources within the club. Nonetheless, it’s undoubtedly frustrating for the player, who has endured a significant period of time away from the pitch.

Gordon’s absence from the game came after a promising breakthrough at the first-team level, where he became Liverpool’s youngest-ever goalscorer in the FA Cup. This Thursday marked the two-year anniversary of his senior debut, a game in which he started in a 3-0 victory against Norwich in the League Cup. However, he’s been unable to build on his four senior appearances thus far.

Liverpool continues to express faith in the young talent, evident in his inclusion in the extended squad for the Europa League group stage. Gordon has been registered as part of List B for the competition, which allows an unlimited number of players under the age of 21, provided they have been with the club for at least two years.

He was also named in the squad for the knockout stages of the previous season’s Champions League but did not make the matchday squad due to a longer-than-expected recovery period.

A total of twelve players have been registered via List B, including Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajcetic, with goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga added to UEFA’s system as a late inclusion.
