Glenn Hoddle was left amazed by Alexis Mac Allister’s pass and assist that helped Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool beat West Ham United 3-1 at Anfield on Sunday.
After their European adventures in midweek, Liverpool and West Ham traded blows on Merseyside, with the home team opening the scoring through a Mohamed Salah penalty, before Jarrod Bowen levelled the scores just before the break.
Liverpool came out in the second half fighting and overpowered their London opponents, with Alexis Mac Allister attempting and pulling off a pass that was dubbed ‘top, top quality’ by England legend Glenn Hoddle, as he told Premier League Productions (24/09/23 at 4:20 pm).
That assist by Alexis Mac Allister was his first in Liverpool colours following his summer transfer from Brighton and Hove Albion.
To no-one’s surprise, the 24-year-old has made a strong start to life on Merseyside and it’s even better that it was one of his close mates, Darwin Nunez, who was on the end of his first assist.
During Hoddle’s playing days, the Englishman was one of the best during his era on the ball and he knows when he sees a high-quality pass when he sees one.

“That’s a fabulous ball from Mac Allister,” said Hoddle. “To hit a straight ball in a straight run with so many defenders in there, it’s top, top-quality. A great finish as well.
Liverpool roaring forward
That’s another win to Liverpool’s name, as this new-look and refreshed side is showcasing, as of this moment, Premier League title form.
The Reds are sitting second in the Premier League table, with the Treble-winners Manchester City sitting top of the tree with six wins from six.
If Pep Guardiola’s side do what they do best, then it’s pretty obvious, the title will be heading back to Manchester, but if anyone can stop them, it’s Klopp because his Liverpool side were the last team to do that.
