Liverpool are tracking ‘unbelievable’ PL attacker who’s scored against them this season – Romano

Liverpool could be in the market for a new winger in 2024, as Mohamed Salah’s future remains a hot topic.

The Reds managed to stave of interest in Salah from Al Ittihad in the final days of the recent summer transfer window.

But according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, an assault from Saudi Arabia is likely to come next year, too. Speaking to CaughtOffside’s The Debrief podcast, Romano suggested how Liverpool may react.

“I think we will see many links with wingers to Liverpool because of the Mo Salah situation,” said the transfer expert. “We expect the Saudis to return for Salah in 2024.

“At the moment, this is not something concrete yet. Nothing is happening, but I still think in 2024, they will try again and so it is normal to see many links.”

Romano also put forward a name who Liverpool fans may want to keep an eye on in the coming months. And it’s a familiar one.

“Jarrod Bowen is one of them [who could be linked] because Liverpool scouts are usually following some West Ham talented player,” the journalist claimed.

Liverpool back in for Bowen

Two or three years ago, it had seemed likely that Liverpool may push hard to sign Bowen.

Back then, the 26-year-old wasn’t quite the player he has since become, and would have been a slightly left-field choice.

But in the time since, Bowen’s stock has risen considerably. Now a full England international and one of the most consistent forwards in the Premier League, Liverpool would face a fight to wrestle him from West Ham.

The Reds once again saw how effective Bowen can be up close on Sunday. As well as scoring an excellent diving header, the former Hull City man showed all the qualities that led Jurgen Klopp to call him ‘unbelievable’ back in 2022 [Evening Standard].

Of course, all of that doesn’t mean he’d be the right man to step into Salah’s enormous shoes at Anfield. But right now, Bowen looks like a decent candidate.

As a result, tentative links with a move to Merseyside have already returned. If the Hammers attacker can keep his form up, it won’t be the last we’ve heard of those.

There’s a long way to go between now and January, and even longer between now and the summer. But with Salah still being courted by the Saudis, Reds face should brace for yet more of this talk.
