Serie A giants Juventus and Inter Milan are both reportedly interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara when he becomes a free agent at the end of the season.

Andre Trindade transfer latest

Liverpool have no immediate plans to bolster their midfield resources in January despite previously running the rule over several possible targets.

The Reds made an inquiry over Fluminense’s Andre Trindade during the summer having been frustrated in attempts to sign Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who both eventually joined Chelsea.

However, Liverpool was forced to train their sights elsewhere after it emerged the player was intent on staying for the duration of the season in Brazil, which ends next month.

As Luis Diaz’s father remains in the hands of his kidnappers, more support grows for the footballer, his family, and his country’s efforts to rectify the situation.

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel, who experienced his father being kidnapped on two separate occasions during his playing career, is the latest to send a message of strength to the Liverpool man.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the Nigerian said: “I know exactly what you’re going through and I hope you stay strong. I know it’s a tough time for him as a player and his family, what they are all going through, it’s heartbreaking.

“So my message to him is stay strong and do all you can to make sure your dad is released.”
