Jurgen Klopp gave highly-rated Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah the ultimate compliment during Thursday’s training session, according to eagle-eyed fans.
Quansah, who spent the second half of last season on loan at League One Bristol Rovers, has impressed many since coming off the bench in August against Newcastle.
He made his full debut three weeks later and has since featured in six more Liverpool games, including three in the Europa League.
The 20-year-old defender has also played for England U21’s of late. He started in a 3-0 win over Northern Ireland on Tuesday.
And a couple of days later, Jurgen Klopp was speaking about England’s clash at Goodison Park when he appeared to compare Quansah to Virgil van Dijk.
Speaking to Sky reporter Vinny O’Connor, the Liverpool manager can be seen praising both Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton, who both scored in their 2025 Euro Under-21 Championship qualifying match.
And fans think he also calls Quansah the “reloaded 2.0” version of Virgil van Dijk.
Earlier this month, Klopp praised the Warrington-born center-back.
He said: “If you would have asked me in pre-season that he would have been that good, I would have been surprised, but since then I have seen him every day and I am not surprised about it anymore because I know from the first day of pre-season how good a player he will be.”
