Three Liverpool players sat out of training yesterday ahead of Man City game tomorrow

Liverpool still have some injury worries ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Manchester City.

The Reds received a boost yesterday, with a number of players including Ibrahima Konate spotted back in training on Thursday.

Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch were also on the pitches at the AXA Training Centre, despite nursing previous issues.

Despite all of that good news though, the Liverpool ECHO report that three players remain injured for Liverpool.

Thankfully, none are new problems, with the injuries of Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago Alcantara and Andy Robertson all relatively long-term issues.

No clear update is provided on any of the trio, with recoveries said to be ‘ongoing’ for all.

Liverpool still without three

If Bajcetic, Thiago and Robertson are the only three players missing from Liverpool’s squad tomorrow, then Jurgen Klopp has every right to be happy.

With an international break taking place immediately ahead of the game, it had the potential to be much, much worse.

Robertson’s injury was picked up while playing for his country in October, and Klopp has what could only be described as a fraught relationship with international football. The manager will have been dreading bad news. Luckily, it seems as though all of Liverpool’s globe-trotters have returned in one piece.

There is of course the added addition of fatigue from all the travel – especially for the Reds’ South American contingent. But hopefully they’re more used to that now than they were in September and October.

It isn’t ideal preparation for a game like Man City away, but it’s about as good as Liverpool could have asked for.

In terms of City, they had injury worries of their own, with Erling Haaland going down with an ankle knock whilst playing for Norway.

Unsurprisingly though, Pep Guardiola’s star striker was pictured in training for City yesterday. Unless there are any unforeseen issues, Haaland will surely play tomorrow.

Without Thiago and Robertson in particular Liverpool will be wary of the threat of the Norwegian and his teammates. But with others back and seemingly ready, they should be quietly confident of putting up a decent fight.
