Roberto De Zerbi has hit problem that Jürgen Klopp seems to have finally ‘solved’ at Liverpool

Brighton’s meteoric rise has hit a few speed bumps lately, with Roberto De Zerbi reaching a problem Jürgen Klopp has had to face at Liverpool over the years.

Brighton just about got back to winning ways over the weekend, squeezing past Nottingham Forest by three goals to two. But that ended a torrid Premier League run that has managed to go somewhat under the radar.

Roberto De Zerbi has rightly been praised to the rafters for his work since taking over from Graham Potter. He has primarily been mentioned in the frame as an eventual successor to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, but Liverpool would surely have him on the list to one day take over from Jürgen Klopp too.

Yet prior to the weekend’s victory, Brighton was winless in its last six Premier League games. Three successive 1-1 draws with Sheffield United, Everton and Fulham were preceded by a 2-1 loss to Manchester City, and before that came the draw with Liverpool and 6-1 humbling by Aston Villa.
