Liverpool will be one of several Premier League sides keeping a close eye on Manchester City’s hearing by an Independent Commission

Manchester City’s chances of being relegated from the Premier League have been calculated – as Liverpool eagerly watch on.

Pep Guardiola’s side is facing the prospect of heavy punishment after the Premier League leveled 115 charges at their feet in February after a four-year investigation. The charges leveled at City stem from 2009 to 2018, a nine-year period that saw the club win three Premier League titles. One of those came at the expense of Brendan Rodgers’ 2013-14 Liverpool side.

A report from the Daily Mail on Thursday claimed that the Citizens are set to have their case heard by an Independent Commission at the end of 2024.

The case is set to make for interesting viewing for the likes of City’s title rivals Liverpool and Arsenal as well as Manchester United and Everton, after the Blues were docked 10 points last month for breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules over three years between 2019 and 2022.

Despite Manchester City vehemently denying the charges, AltIndex.com has provided the latest odds for where Pep Guardiola’s side will begin the 2025/26 season.

Despite Manchester City vehemently denying the charges, AltIndex.com has provided the latest odds for where Pep Guardiola’s side will begin the 2025/26 season.

Manchester City to start the 2025/26 season in Championship – 5/1

Manchester City to start the 2025/26 season in League One – 20/1

Manchester City to start the 2025/26 season in League Two – 33/1

Manchester City to start the 2025/26 season in National League – 50/1

If found guilty, a punishment of any kind is likely to boost Liverpool’s chances of securing a second Premier League title, having previously missed out on the 2019 and 2022 titles by a single point.
