Owen Hargreaves noticed what Liverpool’s players did when Harvey Elliott came on at Palace

Owen Hargreaves has shared what he found interesting about what the Liverpool players did once Harvey Elliott came on against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Hargreaves was speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show after the 20-year-old scored his first goal of the campaign at the weekend, finding the back of the net in stoppage-time to give Liverpool a win at Selhurst Park.

Harvey Elliott is definitely becoming something of a super-sub for Liverpool. The winger has made 12 appearances off the bench in the Premier League this season.

Of course, there is no shame in not quite being able to break into the Liverpool attack, particularly when he is so good out on the right-hand side. But he is certainly giving Jürgen Klopp something to think about with his form.

Elliott has been able to make an impact off the bench on a few occasions this season. And with that, Owen Hargreaves noticed on Saturday how many of his Liverpool teammates were almost expecting the youngster to make the difference against Palace.

“It’s interesting when he came on with Gakpo, all the boys looked to him,” he told The Kelly and Wrighty Show.

“You know what it’s like, Wrighty. You know a player is good when the boys are giving him the ball. When you have it and you just give it to me like, ‘go on, give us something, create something’. Mo goes inside. There’s a lot of trust in Harvey Elliott’s ability as he’s a lovely football player.”
