Harvey Elliott is doing one thing better than any Liverpool player right now, even Mohamed Salah

There is a small section of the Liverpool fanbase who still doubts Harvey Elliott. Even though

the England U21 international is one of the brightest young talents in the country. At just 20-years-old he already has so much experience, and this season he is really starting to shine on the big stage as well.

When so many midfielders arrived last summer, it would have been easy to imagine that Elliott would struggle this season. Admittedly, his minutes have been reduced on the pitch, but in turn, he has elevated his game.

He has needed to step-up, and he’s done that brilliantly making excellent impact off the bench. Some of that impact has been crucial, especially his goal against Crystal Palace towards the end of last year. But a lot of his impact has also gone unnoticed, and under the radar.

Harvey Elliott doing more than any other Liverpool player

One thing that has gone under the radar about Elliott’s performances is his creativity. He has not registered a lot of assists so far this season. But his underlying numbers are impressive, and he’s got that ability to play the ball into dangerous territories.

One stat which highlights this the most is that per 90 minutes, Elliott currently averages the most passes into the opposition’s penalty area out of any Liverpool player. Elliott currently averages 3.21 passes into the penalty area per 90 minutes in the Premier League – this is more than Mohamed Salah, who averages 2.28 and comes second in the metric as per FBref.

This is a really impressive statistic from Elliott and one that highlights just how useful he can be for Liverpool. Still so young at the moment, he has a very bright future ahead of him.
