Liverpool have an obvious Jurgen Klopp replacement that no one is talking about right now

After Jurgen Klopp’s shock announcement on Friday morning, the whole world has been reeling from the news. It feels far too early to speak about his replacement just yet, but already the media is rife with speculation.

Everyone’s favourite at the moment seems to be Xabi Alonso. He is the talk of the town after a spectacular season with Bayer Leverkusen so far. And given his affiliations with Liverpool he is someone who would absolutely make sense for the Reds to target.

But he is not the only possible candidate. Others have been suggested. Including Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi, who again could be an interesting candidate. Though among all the names mentioned, it’s surprising that one hasn’t really come up.

Marco Rose an obvious candidate to replace Klopp

Liverpool so often sign players from Red Bull clubs it has almost become a given that every few years someone from that system of schooling dons the red shirt. The reasons why are obvious. Red Bull clubs play similar high intensity gegenpressing football to Klopp’s own heavy metal style. With the Red Bull clubs’ philosophy so aligned to that of the Reds it just makes sense to bring in players who can then acclimatise to Klopp’s own style much quicker than others.

That’s why players like Dominik Szoboszlai and Ibrahima Konate were able to settle so quickly at Anfield. They simply knew and understood what was required of them straight away.

So if Liverpool want to instil continuity going for a coach with Red Bull’s methods in his veins would make the most sense. And the perfect candidate could be no other than RB Leipzig’s Marco Rose. The 47-year-old coach has very much been ingrained within the Red Bull system.

He started out as an academy coach at Red Bull Salzburg, before becoming the first team’s head-coach. And now he is managing RB Leipzig.

On top of that, towards the end of his playing career, he actually played under Jurgen Klopp at Mainz. Rose is considered as one of the Liverpool boss’ proteges. So he has seen firsthand what the Liverpool boss is like. Which again makes him an ideal candidate to replace Klopp. And it’s a surprise no one is talking about him yet.
