Bukayo Saka’s opener against Liverpool eased the minds of Arsenal fans’ during the mammoth clash – least of all Kai Havertz after his awful miss prior to the goal.

Kai Havertz has Bukayo Saka to thank after the England international’s goal spared the blushes of his horror miss against Liverpool.

The mammoth Premier League clash on Sunday (February 4) got off to a blistering start with Saka opening the scoring in the 14th minute to put Arsenal ahead.

Arsenal fans were ready to lambast Kai Havertz before the goal after the German was put through on goal by a intelligent pass by Martin Odegaard but the forward fluffed his lines and shot straight at Alisson Becker before the ball fell to Saka who shot the ball into an empty net.

Despite the Gunners taking the lead, fans on social media still decided to have a go at the Germany international for missing his gilt-edged chance which could have come back to bite Mikel Arteta’s men.

One X (formerly known as Twitter) user wrote: “Havertz is so crap but thank God saka was there” while another added: “Nah Havertz, we are not forgetting that miss. You f***ing cheeks guy”.

A third fan was equally angered as they added: “Saka saved Havertz from the craziest prayer i was going to make against him” while a fourth user took aim at Havertz’ shameful finishing: “Don’t let that Saka finish distract you from that disgraceful lack of conviction from Havertz there”.
