‘I’m very shocked’… Jamie Carragher couldn’t believe what Jurgen Klopp did at half-time against Arsenal

Jamie Carragher has shared what Jurgen Klopp did at half-time which shocked him as Liverpool looked to complete the turnaround against Arsenal on Sunday.

Liverpool were handed a massive boost just before half-time at the Emirates. The Reds were poor during the first 45 minutes against Mikel Arteta’s side. Nevertheless, they went into the break level after Gabriel Magalhaes scored an own goal after some poor play between David Raya and William Saliba.

Jurgen Klopp however, would not have got carried away because of the goal. Ultimately, Liverpool seemed to be all over the place at times. And Arsenal had it incredibly easy in a number of moments.

But Klopp decided to refrain from making any changes to his lineup for the second-half.

And speaking on Sky Sports (broadcast on 4/2; 17:34), Jamie Carragher admitted that he did not understand why the Liverpool boss did not change anything.

“Looks like the teams have come out and there’s no changes. I must say I’m very shocked by that. Maybe the equalising goal before half-time has changed Jurgen Klopp’s plans, because I was certain he would make changes,” he said.

A real off day for the Reds

Liverpool actually started the second-half extremely brightly. And it appeared that Klopp would be vindicated for doing little more than tweaking a couple of things.

But the triple change would not be too far away. Unfortunately for the visitors, the substitutions did little to help Liverpool. Arsenal wrestled the momentum back. And they would get the third goal of the game, thanks to a massive mix-up between Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.

It was a really poor day at the office for Liverpool, who missed the chance to go eight points clear at the top of the table.

And it did just appear that no-one in the Liverpool side was quite able to ignite that spark that they desperately needed.

Sunday’s result definitely appears to blow the title race wide open. And Manchester City will certainly be delighted with what they saw from their two rivals.
