The Sky pundit has taken a break from his TV duties to travel north of the border to watch his son in action.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has been spotted in the Highlands as he watches his son James in Scottish Cup action.

Carragher has been given the VIP treatment at the Caledonian Stadium today after making the journey north of the border for today’s fifth-round clash with Hibs. Young defender James, 21, joined Caley Thistle on loan from Wigan Atheltic in January as he attempts to kick-start his career in the SPFL.

The defender spent part of last season on loan with National League outfit Oldham Athletic and Duncan Ferguson has offered him more first-team exposure with the Caley Jags. The youngster has been handed a start for today’s showdown with struggling Hibs as last year’s Scottish Cup runners-up look to pull off another Premiership upset.

And former Liverpool and England stopper Carragher will be watching on proudly from the stands after being welcomed to the club by chief executive Scot Gardiner. The Sky pundit has taken a break from his weekend TV duties covering the Premier League as he casts an eye over his boy for the first time since his loan switch last month.

Carragher has racked up three appearances for Inverness so far as he looks to shine during his five-month stint in the Scottish Championship.
