Dominik Szoboszlai truth emerges after Liverpool supporters notice what Alisson joked about

Liverpool supporters questioned why Dominik Szoboszlai owned a life-size cut-out of himself – now they have their answer.

Liverpool’s latest YouTube video has revealed the origins of Dominik Szoboszlai’s life-size cardboard cut-out of himself that left supporters perplexed last week.

There has been an air of mystery surrounding the midfielder as he has been out of action so far this month. He had returned to the side following a hamstring problem in early January – even scoring in his last appearance against Chelsea – though has not been seen since. Jurgen Klopp then revealed that the previous injury had been aggravated, and now it would be a race against time to have him available for next week’s Carabao Cup final.

But before a diagnosis was given last week, the only trace of the Hungarian online were fresh photos published showing off his new chest tattoo in all of it’s glory, shared to Instagram by the artist. Adding to the ink he had already possessed – including one referring to Reds legend Steven Gerrard – he also posed for a picture with the artist, who he gifted a signed shirt.

Upon closer inspection the background of that picture displayed a life-size cardboard cut-out of the midfielder, seemingly on display in his own home, which left some supporters truly baffled.

One commented: “Can’t pass over the fact that Szoboszlai has a cardboard cut out of himself in his house!” Whilst another questioned: “Is that a cardboard cut out of himself?”

Others saw the funnier side, with one adding: “I’d have two if I looked like him.”

But now the question as to why the cardboard Szoboszlai sits in his house has seemingly been answered by the events that unfolded in Liverpool’s latest upload to YouTube. In the video Szoboszlai was joined by team-mates Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker in order to trick passers-by in Liverpool city centre, who had a mix of shocked and joyful reactions to meeting their heroes.

At one point the trio jump out from behind the cut-outs of themselves to surprise two young supporters, after which the 23-year-old asked: “Can I have this?”

“Oh my goodness,” van Dijk responded, whilst Alisson joked: “You love yourself, huh?”
