Jurgen Klopp has been the Liverpool boss for the best part of 10 years now, but the true boss behind the scenes has always been his wife.
As it’s always said, behind every great man stands an even greater woman, and Klopp would agree that his wife, Ulla, has always played a huge part in his success throughout his career.
Klopp stated when he signed his new contract two years ago that his wife played a huge part in his decision, and now that he’s left the club, Ulla’s feelings have also been taken into account.
Speaking on the club’s official YouTube channel, Klopp says that his wife knows how big of a decision this is and ultimately, she is happy for him and happy that he’s pleased with the decision he’s ultimately made.

The manager spoke about his conversation with his wife.
“She knows I don’t take these things lightly and she is happy for me that I’m happy with the decision because that’s the truth. People tell me all the things that are going well and I enjoy it like crazy, but I know I won’t have to do it forever, I need to find a different purpose,” Klopp said.

Make no mistake about it, this isn’t a decision that would’ve been taken lightly.
Liverpool is now as much a home to Klopp and his family as Germany is, and the decision to leave will have been a very tough one.
However, with Klopp happy with his decision and his wife happy for him to make this call, it probably is the right time to call it quits.
Klopp has done a very rare thing for a manager, leaving everyone around the club wanting more, but, after so many years and so much success at Liverpool, he can leave with his head held high knowing that he did everything he could for this club during his tenure.
