Paul Merson impressed with ‘unbelievable talent’ who’s set to start Carabao Cup final vs Chelsea

Latest Liverpool news and gossip as Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has praised the Reds youngster he says has ‘unbelievable talent’ ahead of the Carabao Cup final vs Chelsea.

Paul Merson has listed the reasons why he has been impressed with Liverpool star Conor Bradley.

Bradley has stepped in at right-back in place of the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold in recent weeks. The Liverpool vice-captain is currently sidelined with a knee injury and will miss the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday.

While Alexander-Arnold has been injured, Bradley has made four starts in the Premier League as well as one in the FA Cup and both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Fulham. The 20-year-old has one goal and five assists to his name and played a key role in the recent win over Luton Town in the top flight.

Bradley looks set to start the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea at right-back. Merson has been impressed with what he has seen from the Northern Ireland international, and has explained what he believes are strong areas of his game.

“This kid [Bradley] has got unbelievable talent,” said Merson on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday.

“We were just watching the clips there. I know that clips can make you look great, but his intelligence, his football brain, he knows when to pass, when to close down.

“Everything he does, it is the right decision. For a 20-year-old, that is unusual, very unusual. For a 20-year-old to make consistently the right decisions, playing for a big football club. I think this kid is amazing.”

While Bradley is a possible starter at right-back for Liverpool against Chelsea, Jurgen Klopp has other options at his disposal. Joe Gomez has been utilised in that position this season when needed, although Klopp has often preferred to play the defender at left-back while Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas were out injured.

Now Robertson and Tsimikas are back available, Klopp has options to choose from at full-back. After yet another impressive performance in the Premier League, Klopp may be inclined to hand Bradley his first start in a major final for Liverpool.
