This is what Van Dijk had to say after he became Liverpool hero

“It’s emotional. It’s everything. I am so proud of the boys. It’s incredible. I am over the moon.It means to much. All the young boys on the pitch. It’s incredible. First trophy as a Liverpool captain.”

“When you’re young and you get an opportunity you have to grab it with both hands and it’s easier said than done, but the guys did it,” he said.

“The culture at the club makes them do it again and it’s good to see. I’ve said this many times before but it’s a start, they should use this to kick on and I’m sure they will.

“Players will come back in time but they should keep pushing, keep trying to get close to the team and be part of the squad. To experience this as a 17, 18 or 19-year-old is only beneficial so let’s see.”

“The talk about the boss’s last season is not in our dressing room. It’s in the outside world.”
