Latest Liverpool news as wonderkid Jayden Danns nets his first goals for the Reds in a memorable evening

Liverpool prodigy Jayden Danns has labelled his first senior goals as a “dream come true” after he netted twice in the Reds’ FA Cup fifth round win over Southampton – and admits sleeping on Wednesday night is unlikely.

The striker came off the bench in the 62nd minute with Liverpool 1-0 up against the Championship thanks to Lewis Koumas’ opener in the first-half. Danns scored twice in front of the Kop end to confirm the quarter-final clash with Manchester United.

His first came after good movement behind the defender and a calm finish past Joe Lumley. His tally was doubled when he showed great instinct to follow in Conor Bradley’s shot to tap into the empty net.

Speaking after the 3-0 win, Danns admitted that he will struggle to sleep tonight. “Honestly, it’s a dream come true,” he said. “I have supported the club since birth so to come on and score at the KOP end, it’s unreal, it doesn’t feel real to me. I don’t think I’ll sleep tonight.

Adding on his goals, the 18-year-old said: “Obviously it was this lad [Harvey Elliott] who set me in, I just seen him and knew he had the vision and I’ll make it. The keeper came close and when he comes that close you have to dink it.
