‘Really?’… Jamie Carragher shocked by what Micah Richards said about Arsenal after Liverpool draw

Jamie Carragher was left shocked by what Micah Richards said about Arsenal after Liverpool drew at home to Manchester City yesterday.

Jurgen Klopp was forced to settle for a point on Sunday, which means Mikel Arteta’s men lead the way in the Premier League.

Liverpool were made to rue their missed chances in the second half after Alexis Mac Allister cancelled out John Stones’ opener.

The Reds were also denied a last-minute penalty after Jeremy Doku appeared to catch Mac Allister on the chest with a high boot.

Yesterday’s game at Anfield puts Arsenal in the driving seat for the title, with the Gunners currently above Liverpool on goal difference and a point ahead of Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola will probably settle for a point after his side rode their luck in the second half.

And if City had lost at Anfield, Micah Richards feels Arsenal would have been favourites for the league title, much to Jamie Carragher’s surprise.

Carragher shocked by what Richards said about Arsenal after Liverpool vs City

Speaking on Sky Sports, Richards said: “If City had lost today, I would have said Arsenal?”

Carragher responded: “Arsenal, if Liverpool would have won? Really?”

“Yeah, I just thought with the momentum,” Richards hit back.

Carragher added: “You’re an Arsenal fan aren’t you?”

“You’re an Evertonian,” Richards joked.

While yesterday’s game could have a huge impact on the title race, there are plenty of twists and turns to come.

Arsenal are well-placed at the moment but they have some tricky fixtures to come through over the coming weeks.

Indeed, Arteta’s side travel to City on March 31 and also have tough away games to come at Tottenham, Manchester United and Wolves.

You’d imagine that City will be content with picking up a point at Anfield as it keeps them within touching distance of both Arsenal and Liverpool.
