The journey of 25-year-old Fede Valverde to Real Madrid began in 2016 when he transferred from Penarol.
Initially featuring for the club’s B team, he swiftly ascended to the first-team ranks by 2017. Since then, Valverde has amassed an impressive tally of 246 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos, contributing 19 goals and 23 assists to the cause.
His significance to Carlo Ancelotti’s side has been particularly notable in the current season, where he has been a mainstay in the lineup.
Throughout the 2023-24 campaign, the Uruguayan midfielder has been a consistent presence on the pitch, making 42 appearances for Real Madrid across various competitions. Despite his recent contract extension, Liverpool has reportedly expressed a keen interest in securing Valverde’s services. The Merseyside club is said to have tabled a substantial offer of €150 million (£129 million) for the midfielder, viewing him as a ‘dream signing’.
Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s current head coach, is purportedly a fervent admirer of Valverde’s talents, although Klopp is set to step down from his role at the end of the season.
While Real Madrid anticipates the high-profile arrival of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, they are not under significant pressure to offload players. Mbappe’s impending arrival is expected to be a landmark deal, with the French forward poised to become the club’s highest-paid player.
