The reason why Alisson Becker wore the number 110 shirt for Brazil against Mexico

Alisson Becker started as Brazil took on Mexico in a friendly match.

The reason why Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker wore the number 110 shirt for Brazil against Mexico has been revealed.

On Saturday, Brazil and Mexico went head-to-head in a pre-Copa America friendly at the Kyle Field in Texas.

The match turned out to be an entertaining encounter with Brazil winning 3-2.

Dorival Junior’s men went 2-0 up thanks to goals from Andreas Pereira and Gabriel Martinelli. Julian Quinones pulled one back before Guillermo Martinez Ayala made it 2-2 in stoppage time.

However, Endrick headed in the winner for Brazil in the sixth minute of added time.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson captained Brazil and was spotted wearing the number 110 shirt instead of his normal number one jersey.

The number 110 shirt was worn by Alisson due to him being the captain of the team on the 110th anniversary of the Selecao.

Heading into the summer transfer window, Alisson has been linked with a move away from Liverpool.

It has previously been reported that clubs in Saudi Arabia are keeping a keen eye on the 31-year-old.

However, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has clarified Alisson’s situation.

He wrote in his Caught Offside column, as per Empire of the Kop: “Let me clarify on Alisson who has a long-term contract with Liverpool but we have many rumours about Saudi. It is true that there was interest from Saudi. End of February, beginning of March, they approached Alisson about a potential move.

“But what I’m hearing is that Alisson is really happy at Liverpool and they’re really happy with him. So I see him staying and playing an important part in Liverpool’s new project.”

Alisson’s current Liverpool contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027.
