Vincent Kompany is reportedly targeting a Liverpool star as his first Bayern Munich signing.

Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany is reportedly targeting a Liverpool player ahead of the summer transfer window.

Last month, it was confirmed that former Manchester City captain Kompany had become Bayern’s new head coach, replacing Thomas Tuchel.

Since Kompany’s appointment, the Bavarians have been linked with a host of different players ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Now, it has been claimed that Bayern are looking at a Liverpool player.

As reported by The Mirror, the Bundesliga giants are planning to raid Liverpool for defender Joe Gomez.

It is believed that Kompany wants to add to his defensive options and like the versatility that Gomez has.

Throughout the 23/24 season, Gomez has played across the back line at right-back, centre-back and left-back.

The 27-year-old has also started a couple of matches as Liverpool’s central defensive midfielder.

Overall, Gomez enjoyed an injury-free season and impressed for the Reds, resulting in him being selected by England boss Gareth Southgate for Euro 2024.

However, it has been reported that Liverpool have no interest in letting Gomez leave the club this summer.

The report stated: “Liverpool will issue a firm hands off warning to Bayern and they do not want to lose one of their most-valued players.

“The Reds handed Gomez a five-year deal in 2022 to tie him to Anfield until 2027 and see him as a hugely important player under new boss Arne Slot.”

Reflecting on his season, Gomez said to The Anfield Wrap: “I think this season’s taught me that I just want to enjoy playing football, [I] don’t need to necessarily need to box myself in.

“Obviously I still feel like I can contribute well at centre-half, but I’ve definitely enjoyed my football and for me that comes first.”

Apart from Gomez, Bayern have also been linked with Chelsea’s Levi Colwill.

Similarly to Gomez, Chelsea are also not in any mood to sell Colwill, who has a contract at Stamford Bridge that runs until 2029.
