Nottingham Forest are returning from the international break this weekend but they face an away trip to Liverpool on Saturday.
It has been a bright start to the 2024/25 campaign for Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side who are making the trip to Anfield unbeaten in their opening three games.
Forest have been able to take five points from a possible nine which has secured them a spot in the top half of the table going into the break.
But Saturday is going to be their toughest challenge yet as they are coming up against a Liverpool side who are yet to concede a single goal.
Arne Slot’s takeover in the dugout from Jurgen Klopp has been seamless so far with the Reds sitting joint-top of the table.
A big task is ahead for Forest but there will not be many who will be providing them with much of a hope going into the game.
Paul Merson shares his Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest prediction
Even though Forest have taken five points from their first three games, there could well be a feeling that points were left out on the pitch.
Nuno has already admitted there are two Forest players struggling for fitness ahead of the trip to Merseyside on Saturday.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, Paul Merson has predicted a Liverpool win but he has admitted Forest could make this a difficult afternoon for the Reds.
“I expect Liverpool to win, but this could still prove to be a difficult game,” he said.
“I like what Ive seen from Arne Slot’s men so far. If they keep all their players fit, and I said this from day one, I believe they have a chance of winning the league.”
“Ryan Gravenberch has been outstanding so far this season, but he has to keep producing these performances. When you’re a player like him, you also thrive due to the players in front of you. And he definitely has a dream front-three in front of him at Liverpool.”
Forest have nothing to lose against Liverpool
The bright start to the season from Forest has seen the Reds go into the game on Saturday with a solid foundation to build on.
With five points on the board, it also means that the pressure going into a game like the one away to Liverpool is taken off.
Of course, Nuno will still want his side to go into the game aiming for all three points but their solid start will allow them to play with more freedom at Anfield.
The pressure will be on Liverpool to keep up their solid start to the new season and keep pace with Manchester City, but Forest could potentially provide them with a difficult afternoon.
