Manchester United Mourns Diogo Jota and Brother Andre After Heartbreaking Loss
Manchester United extend their deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre, as well as everyone connected with Liverpool FC, following Thursday’s heartbreaking news.
The Liverpool forward and his brother tragically lost their lives in a car accident while on holiday in Spain.
Figures from across the football world — including current and former Manchester United players — have paid emotional tribute to the 28-year-old, who also represented Portugal, FC Porto, and Wolverhampton Wanderers during his career.
Captain Bruno Fernandes shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, alongside a photo with Jota:
“Friend, colleague, and companion in a thousand battles. It’s hard to understand how someone can leave so soon.
May you and your brother find the peace you need to watch over those who lost you so suddenly. My deepest condolences to your family.”
United full-back Diogo Dalot, who played alongside Jota at Euro 2020 and Euro 2024, wrote:
“Devastating… speechless… much strength to the family.”
Cristiano Ronaldo, who shared the pitch with Jota for Portugal, offered a touching tribute:
“It doesn’t make sense. Just recently, we were together with the national team, and you had just gotten married.
To your wife, your children, and your entire family, I send my heartfelt condolences and all the strength in the world. I know you’ll always be with them.
