The Scotland sensation made his first start for Jurgen Klopp’s side in tonight’s Europa League clash with LASK
Ben Doak entered the Liverpool history books by becoming the club’s fourth youngest player to feature in Europe.
The former Celtic starlet made his full debut for the Reds after being handed his first start in tonight’s Europa League clash with LASK. Boss Jurgen Klopp named a completely different line-up from Saturday’s 3-1 win over Wolves, with Doak earning a place in the line-up.
Aged just 17 years 314 days, the dazzling winger became the fourth youngest player to appear for the Anfield club on the European stage in what is another significant milestone for the Scotland sensation. Doak had previously made six sub appearances for Liverpool arriving from Parkhead in 2022 and was part of an attack in Austria that also featured superstars Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
The teenage wonderkid didn’t look out of place, though, and was a constant menace down the right hand flank, even if the Reds went into the break 1-0 behind. Doak made a number of threatening runs inside the box, twisting and turning his way through the defence, but often lacked the final ball.
The lightning-quick youngster’s decision-making could have been better at times, and he could have released the ball earlier on occasion, but boss Klopp will surely be satisfied with how the club’s hottest prospect fared on his first start. And fans were quick to deliver their verdicts on social media after the superkid was subbed off on the hour mark.
